This plant has been described as "a Crinum on steroids".

    C. 'Super Ellen' is a cross between Crinum 'Ellen Bosanquet' x Crinum bulbispermum that produces huge, glossy green leaves that can grow up to 7' long. The foliage is topped with sturdy 6' tall spikes full of large, outfacing, cherry red flowers from June through summer.

It may take a few years for the bulb to become mature enough to produce its very ample proportions.
