Salvia farinacea 'Augusta Duelberg' is native to the United States. In fact, it's native to the state of Texas, as it was discovered in a dusty graveyard halfway between Houston and Austin by Texas conservationist and horticulturist Greg Grant, who took cuttings of the Salvia that covered the gravesite of Augusta Duelberg.

Augusta Duelberg is the wife of Henry Duelberg, who has a blue-flowered Salvia named after him by Greg Grant.

Both the Henry Deulberg and Augusta Duelberg sages are now listed as Texas Superstars by Texas A&M University – an elite group of about 50 plants that are known for great beauty, long bloom times, and hardy survival in extreme growing conditions.

This salvia was found growing on the grave of Augusta Duelberg by Greg Grant. He also discovered the blue salvia, Henry Duelberg, growing on the grave of Augusta's husband.
