Often misidentified as Crystal Anthurium (Anthurium crystallinum), A. magnificum can easily be distinguished by its petioles (leaf stems), which are variously described as "four-angled" and "quadrangular" (square) in cross-section. A. crystallinum has rounded petioles. The leaves are described as coriaceous (resembling leather). They remind me of thin leather, soaked in water and then baked in the sun.
