La Jolla is one of my favorite roses. This hybrid tea from the early 1950s has blooms that start out bright pink with a gold center, after which the pink petals gradually fade to cream with pink tinges. The blooms are quite large (5-6 inches) and very full (65 petals). Although the bloom starts out with a high center, it probably could not qualify as an exhibition bloom because the petal density soon creates a more casual and asymmetrical look, reminiscent of the Pernetiana roses.
