It is a diploid. Very, very fragrant. Smells like lilacs. Nocturnal. Extended bloom, each flower here in the northeast stays for about 2 1/2 days. It is pod fertile. It will cross with hybrids such as 'Happy Returns'. Very light yellow, trumpet shaped. Foliage is very fine and grass like; almost delicate looking.

Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus syn. flava is a very early blooming species daylily. It's flowers are a light yellow, funnel-shaped, 7- 8 cm long and are sweetly scented. Scapes have 6-9 flowers. Spreads underground. It can be propagated by division or seed (not pollinated with other varieties of daylilies). May be known as an heirloom, but heirloom does not necessarily mean species. Foliage is fine, almost grassy, and of a good green. One of the very first daylillies to be registered on the AHS site!
