I have never seen this species from China. It is a good-looking evergreen groundcover with weakly woody stems. It is taller and less dense than the similar Japanese Pachysandra. Its thick, shiny leaves are about 2 to 4 inches long by 1 to 2.25 inches wide; are pointed and coarsely toothed; and look sort of like Arrowwood Viburnum leaves. It bears loose spikes of fragrant, white, strap-like flowers in spring. There are a few varieties and some cultivars. Some rare plant nurseries offer this.
