"Sambucus racemosa 'Lemony Lace®', Cut Leaf Elderberry, , USDA Hardiness Zone 3, white flowers, yellow foliage edged in red, Michigan Bloom Month 7a-.

Fine textured foliage starts out a dark red changing to glowing yellow green. Ages to chartreuse. White flowers in spring with clusters of red fruit in the fall for the birds. Sambucus tends to sucker."

I ordered this in 2017, and was disappointed to get a tiny 4" pot (for like $20), but potted it up in a 3-4 gallon pot and have been heeling it in for the last 2 winters (in zn. 5). It's now about 2' tall or more and going to flower for the first time this year.

I haven't decided if I'll put it in a bigger pot and plant that in its final location or if I'll take my chances with the suckers. I do have a pair of sharp pruners :)
