An heirloom variety with pointed purple artichokes, which are more tender than the green types. Needs a mild climate.

These do great from seed, but don't expect to get many buds the first year. Make sure to cover with green compost and mulch to get it through the winter, especially in zones 8-6, so you'll have a lot of amazing chokes the next year.
