Excel is a Type 2 pollinator and requires a Type 1 pollinator for nut production.
A Georgia seedling. The parentage of Excel is suspected to be Pierce X Success.
Large nut size, averaging 45 nuts per pound. It has 49% kernel and the shells are thick. Excel has excellent scab resistance. Yields are high but overbearing may create a problem on older trees. This is an alternate bearing cultivar.
Excel is recommended for commercial growers with shakers and/or hedging machines to reduce the excessive crop load.
