"Genesee Giant" is a heritage winter wheat raised and native to upstate NY, which in the 2010 Cornell trials near the Adirondacks produced 48.4 bu/ac. This may be an anomoly as 1895 tests record 60bu/ac. The 2010 Trial had "Pride of Genesee" was 49bu and "Genesee" was 65.4bu.

It is recorded as good for heavy soils with long seed heads and strong, stiff straw. Recorded as a development of Mr. Jones of Batavia, NY, starting roughly 1878, Crossing with "American Bronze" to add the "Early" in 1892, and crossing with "Jones Winter Fife" to create "Pride of Genesee" about the same time.

Although qualities vary with soil, Genesee bread flour was listed as the #2 in the Guelph, Ont. wheats in 1910 with the words "Strong loaf."
