This hybrid was initially registered as Cymbidium Ayodhaya and the parentage given as Orchid (Cymbidium Golden Vanguard) X Orchid (Cymbidium Valerie Absolonova).

However, according to the hybridiser (Kobsukh Kaenratana of Pakkret Orchids), he used mixed pollen of Valerie Absolonova (3N) and Grammatophyllum scriptum (2N) on Golden Vanguard (4N). All the resulting progeny have strong Cymbidium traits, but also exhibit key traits found in F1 Grammatocymbidium hybrids, something that wasn't initially recognised:

For example, they show some upright roots which should not be found in any heavily ensifolium-influenced hybrids. Leaves are a bit wider than normal heavily-ensifolium-influenced hybrids and have some twist. Sheath of flower buds open so early when they are still short which suggest a common character of Grammatophyllum. (This trait is a dominant one as all F1 Grammatocymbidium exhibit this trait). And the lip is different from typical Cymbidium lip.

As of January 2018, Kobsukh has advised the RHS and the registration has been updated to show the correct hybrid genus and parentage: Orchid (Cymbidium Golden Vanguard) X Bell Orchid (Grammatophyllum scriptum).
