I am amazed at the big number of cultivars of the Japanese Spirea that there are. (Actually, I would like to see that species get another name because there are several other species of spirea from Japan, and Japan only.) The leaves of this plant seem a little bigger and wider than most leaves on this species. This cultivar is new on the market. So far this is the only one I have seen. I have seen a number of photos of this new cultivar that show that when the heat of summer comes, the foliage turns yellowish-green and is not bright yellow or orange, maybe with some red, when the season is cool. One photo showed the new emerging growth as bright red for awhile in early spring. The flower clusters look a little smaller than the normal green-leaved plants, but are dark rose.
