This tall grass is native from New England down through all of Florida to eastern Texas, then Arizona & southern California, down into Central America and in the West Indies. It likes full sun and moist to wet soils. Its bluish-green foliage turns to copper in color in autumn and lasts through winter to show some good winter interest like other Bluestem species including the similar Virginia Broomsedge. It can be bought at some native plant nurseries and some larger, diverse nurseries, most of which with the latter are online. I have not really seen it yet at most any conventional nursery.
