Soaking the seed for several hours in lukewarm water improves germination. When planting, press soil down firmly. This is an Heirloom beet variety with very red leaves. The baby beets are good cooked or in salads and are best when harvested young. When sowing, you can mix beet seeds with radish seeds, which sprout faster and will help to mark the rows. Definitely best in cool weather with full sun.
