This was the first Cymbidium in Australia to receive an FCC. Unfortunately it is an aneuploid (a chromosome count of 76 was reported by Wells 1956, 4 short of the 80 in a tetraploid) and did not readily breed. The Flamenco used was reported to be a cross between a 4N and 5N. Somehow this was successfully crossed with lowianum and produced Girrahween 'Enid'.
