This 'Mellow Yellow' Thunberg Spirea has been very popular in this early 21st century because of its bright yellow foliage in spring, but it fades to more yellowish-green when the heat of summer comes, and then gets yellow again in the cool of fall. It also has a very wispy, airy fine texture with its tiny leaves and very slender twigs. It is sold at many conventional nurseries. The mother species of Thunberg Spirea that is native to Japan and China with light green leaves, that can also be called Garland Spirea, was fairly commonly planted in the late 1800's to the mid-1900's, but I don't see it hardly anymore.
