Bacopa monnieri is a Florida native perennial that occurs throughout the state. It has broadly creeping stems that root at the nodes, forming dense mats of vegetation. The oval, thick, succulent leaves are 1/2 to 3/4 inches long and appear opposite along the prostrate and spreading stems. The 1/2-inch wide solitary flowers are composed of 5 white to bluish-pink petals fused at their bases and broadly flaring at the mouth. Herb-of-Grace is a low growing aquatic or semi-aquatic perennial found in fresh and brackish water habits, moist soils, along roadsides, edges of ponds and marshes, wet ditches, and canal margins.

Medicinally, the extract of Bacopa monnieri is said to help enhance memory and motor function, as well as to treat anxiety and depression.

Bacopa monnieri is a host plant for caterpillars of the White Peacock Butterfly.
