I have just recently seen a posting about Sprengel's Sedge and it looks much like a sedge in my natural wetland in rural southwestern Ontario. I was wondering whether the perigynium, after reaching maturity and drying, will become barbed and easily tangled in a dog's coat. We certainly have the fibrous strands all over the area and it is the primary resource for nest construction for several birds, particularly the North American Robin.
    Thank you.
