Description from the 1933 catalog, Royal Iris Gardens (J. C. Nicholls, Jr., Camillus, NY), p.75:
    Other American Species
MISSOURIENSIS (Collected in Colorado). 16". A very beautiful species that is native in the Rocky Mountains, with lavender or pale blue flowers that are comparatively large and quite showy. Pretty slender foliage.

MISSOURIENSIS—Blue Bird (Collected in Colorado). 16". Like the type, but flowers of deep violet blue. Very pretty, and recommended.
