Native to coastal ranges of California and Oregon. Habitat - stream banks and moist areas in forests.
Leaves form whorls at regular intervals along stem. Flowers are highly reflexed with stamens strongly exerted. Rhizomes branch regularly to produce clones of stems forming colonies, some quite large.
An excellent species plant for gardens able to meet plant's need.
    Visually stunning.

A very 'show-worthy 'bloom and a bulb that breeds like rabbits. A 6 foot stem with many 'whorls' of pendant blooms. When selling a bulb of this to customers, I say, 'you can buy a lilium bulb', where visitors say'' that's nice'' or you can buy a pardalinum bulb, where visitors are too busy picking up their bottom jaw from the floor ''oh my god!!!, that's unbelievable!!" A definite champion lilium.
