For many years, while my parents owned a home on 5 acres, my dad had apple trees that he grew and tended to. One of the varieties was 'Jonathan.' He'd take good care of them and watched them faithfully every season and took care of any problems that needed to be attended to. Some years he said he had bumper crops of apples!

He gave some of the apples to my siblings and me and to his friends at their church. Some of the apples he made into applesauce. He made applesauce with sugar, with sugar and cinnamon, and without sugar. All excellent versions!
