Dense clump of narrow, arching leaves and gristly flower spikes on tall stems in summer. Leaves turn golden tan in late fall and can be left standing to provide winter interest.
For best results (if planting more than one of these plants), space the plants at least 3 feet apart.
Landscape uses:
The narrow, erect form of feather red grass makes it a good accent plant for an island bed or a perennial border, where its slender leaves and stems are a nice foil for large-leaves plants such as plume poppy. Its winter color is handsomely displayed against an evergreen background.
