    "Paeonia 'Louis Van Houtte', (3-DB-RD) Hybrid Peony, (Calot, 1867), USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Medium height, large double, Cherry Red petals, rose flower form, slight fragrance, strong stems, good cut, midseason bloomer, Michigan Bloom Month 6a.

    An old red double heirloom. Bred in 1867 by the French breeder Calot, who acquired the legendary peony collection of the Count of Cussy in 1850."
