Favorite or New Plant

Broomstick Sansevieria
Carefree Sansevieria cylindrica is in the same genus as snake plant, a common houseplant. This one differs in that its leaves are round cylinders, like broomsticks, rather than flat like the snake plant's leaves. It takes similar growing conditions, not being fussy whether in bright or low light indoors. Outdoors it needs protection from direct sun, such as near the house under the eaves. Like snake plant, there are varieties with different variegated foliage patterns and in varying heights. Some reach broomstick length!

Clever Gardening Technique

Buy a Rain Gauge and Conserve Water
Summer thundershowers deposit significant rain, but the amounts can vary widely within short distances. What the weather report says fell at a particular location may not coincide with your neighborhood. A rain gauge lets you know what happened in your yard. Perhaps sufficient rain fell that you can conserve water by skipping a scheduled irrigation!
