Spiral Soaker or Drip Hoses
To give a young tree a good slow soaking, drip or soaker hoses work well. However drip irrigation emitters generally only wet a few spots of soil along the hose. Spiral the hose beginning near the base of the tree and circling the tree about a foot or so farther out with each spiral until you reach the outer branch spread. This will wet a large volume of soil, which is important if your goal is to get lots of fast growth early in the life of the tree.
