Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program Applications
If you live in Los Angeles County, are passionate about helping other gardeners grow and eat more nutritious vegetables, and have done a lot of community service (not necessarily in gardening), then this program may be for you. Application packets are available from December 1 - January 15. If you're accepted, class session is every Saturday, March 7 - May 30, 9:00am-4:00pm, in East LA. To receive an announcement flyer, email ydsavio@ucdavis.edu and get onto either or both email lists: 1) Community Gardening and Food Security, 2) School Gardening.

Clever Gardening Technique

Painted Rocks or Stakes
As you clean up dried foliage from bulbs, mark their locations with painted rocks or stakes, so you don't damage them when digging later in the season. Kids love to paint ladybugs or other critters, so provide a whole menagerie for the garden!
