Clever Gardening Technique

PVC Hoop Tunnels
Here's a quick, inexpensive temporary mini greenhouse structure to protect a row of plants on a cold night. Take sections of grey (sunlight resistant) PVC pipe and stick one end in the ground on the edge of a planting bed. Then bend the pipe into an arch and stick the other end into the ground on the other side if the bed. Place these hoops about every 3-4 feet down the row and then place a length of PVC down the row on top of the arches. Tie it in place with jute twine. This makes a quick structure for covering with tarps or clear plastic sheeting to protect tender plants during a potentially damaging freeze.
