Favorite or New Plant

Gallery Art Deco Dahlia
If you've ever thought you might just try dahlias, do I have the one for you. I grew Gallery Art Deco last year and was absolutely stunned at how beautiful it was. I can hardly describe the colors except that it was a combination of peach and salmon with a touch of deepest maroon edging the petals. Frankly, it reminded be of a summer sunset, and the flowers just kept coming and coming all summer.

This dahlia stands about two feet tall and does quite well in partial shade or full sun. Give it average soil and moisture and it will give you months of pleasure.

Clever Gardening Technique

Transfer Seeding Dates (and Re-live Last Year's Garden)
Keep old calendars with spring planting and indoor seeding dates. Instead of trying every year to work out the new dates, simply transfer the dates from last year's calendar. If you make notes on the calendar as well, you can muse over last year's garden as well as learn from your mistakes. There's nothing quite like seeing everything in black and white.
