An Aid to Identifying North American Birds
NatureInstruct- Dendroica: An Aid to Identifying North American Birds is an
interactive website helps students, volunteers and professionals improve their skills at identifying North American birds by sight or by sound, particularly so that they can participate in nature survey and monitoring programs.

This site consists of a series of individual modules developed to help users learn to identify particular birds through browsing photos, reading descriptions, and/or listening to sounds, and then quizzing themselves on the results.

Clever Gardening Technique

Velcro Self-stick Plant Tie
When you need a quick, simple, strong fix to support a plant stem or branch, this green, self-gripping, Velcro tape-like material is a must. I like the rolls, which come 1/2 and 1 inch widths. To support a damaged stem, I encircle the stem and support as one, wrapping from above to below the damaged area. For an errant or droopy stem or branch, I make a loose, figure 8 around stem, then around the support (stake, bamboo, post, chopstick).
