San Diego Botanic Garden Insect Festival
Saturday-Sunday, July 10-11, 2010, 10am-4pm. View live insects, lizards, snakes, hawks, owls, and Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Activities include bug collecting, hands-on insect arts and crafts, bug tastings (mesquite, teriyaki, and barbeque flavors!). Entomologists and other bug experts answer questions. Clever Gardening Technique

Seeding Without Bending
Place a rubber washer around a length of dowel at the correct planting depth to punch planting holes for big seeds like corn and beans without bending. The washer can be moved up or down the dowel to adjust for differences in seed depths. Less bending means you can garden longer!
