Check out Rain Gardens, a free publication produced by University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension for details on designing, sizing, and constructing a rain garden. Desert dwellers should ignore the suggested plant lists at the end, but the other information, including helpful diagrams, provides a good foundation for the topic.
