Because I'm fascinated by the different and unusual, I search out books that will provide me with details about "hard to find" plants. Although there are a number of definitive reference books on bulbs, the one I turn to most is Bulbs, by Roger Phillips and Martyn Rix (Pan Books, 1989; $33). It contains photos of over a thousand bulbs, each with a description.
