Heat-Zone Gardening
Most of us consider whether a particular plant is cold hardy in our area, but we may not think about whether a plant can tolerate heat. As you plan this year's garden, consider Dr. H. Marc Cathey's book Heat-Zone Gardening (Time-Life Books, 1998; $25). It features a heat-zone map that's divided into twelve regions and an encyclopedia of almost five hundred plants to help you choose plants that thrive in your region's warmest weather.
