Hey everyone,
I was lucky and found some new plants at a nursery over the holiday and this one was labeled "Stapelia"
The owner didn't know the official name but said the flowers weren't huge like gigantea, but that they're spotted flowers (possibly....she wasn't 100%)

Anyone have any ideas? I have never seen a stapelia with such large/fat stems like this...so I don't even know where to start, but I liked the strange Flinstone vibe it had and picked it up for $4. The stem almost looks more like an Orbea stem to me, just way larger than any I've ever grown before.

I used to grow Orbeopsis melanantha, that one had fat growth like that. But obviously you need to wait for a bloom to id it. Smiling

I would agree, a bloom with be a sure ID. Did you buy it bare root?

Ursula, I looked that one up, it does seem to have similar stems :)

Daisy, no these were all in pots but really wet peat mix because the woman kept them in a greenhouse that was 100 degrees F. They also had white marks that looked to be mealie bugs so I washed them all and repotted today

Got it! Now take the new plants out of the middle of all your other plants and put them in quarantine until you are absolutely sure the mealies are gone. They are very sneeky.
