I keep a few pots of bulbs in our enclosed porch. It's been unseasonably warm all this year in New England, Zone 6b. Today I was shocked to find that my bowl of Iris reticulata are coming up (along with a pot of daffodils). Figuring that I can't stop them from growing, I watered the bowl and moved it to a sunny area. If it gets too cold, I will move the bowl inside. In any case, it looks like I'm going to get Iris reticulata early this year.

Has anyone had experience with this? Hopefully they will bloom okay?!

Reticulated irises are rather opportunistic bloomers, so can and will bloom very early if given a chance. In my garden here in southern Sweden they will normally bloom in February-April depending on weather and cultivar, as some cultivars are much earlier than others.

What you describe sounds pretty normal to me Smiling , especially as you have been keeping the pot in a protected spot in your enclosed porch. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

They are tough plants that can handle rather serious freezes even in full bloom, although everything has its limits. I would just make sure that the soil in the pots don't freeze to quickly if it gets cold. If you haven't done so already, adding a bit insulation around them can be a good thing. I always place my pots with spring bulbs in the ground in the unheated greenhouse.

Thank you, William! This is my third time growing them; the first two failed due to rot. The containers were outside and our climate is just too wet. I really hope to see them bloom finally.

Like I mentioned before it was impulse buy.
Blooming is past already.
They're still in small plastic pots from nursery.
Any suggestions about planting now?
Only information I find online says fall planting.
Suggestions welcome
Thanks

They should be planted in the fall like other bulbs. Here in Massachusetts, Harmony bloomed outside on March 18. Very early this year as last year it bloomed on April 2.
