Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Elmore James')

ELMORE JAMES has been growing in my garden since 2013. It steadily and quite slowly increases. The blooms do not fade in the sun and often have a very narrow white-ish edge. Blooms do not get that glossy look in heat. They also do not bloom blotchy. Color is always consistent although I would call it more redish than purple here. Here, the scape height is just under registered at 36", bud count averages 12 on 3 way branching. It is a mid season bloomer. I have never noticed fragrance. For me, it is a good garden plant.

Elmore James was a little slow to take off in my garden, then did well for a couple of years. Last summer I moved it, thinking it needed more light. Apparently it disagreed, I think it died. Hoping a bit survives, I agree, never splotchy, nice rich color that does not turn shiny at the end of the day. Was more purple than red for me, lovely rich color.
