I went to Leu Gardens here in my area yesterday for a walk about and captured some Monarch butterflies and a caterpillar, I need to find some of this Silky Gold milkweed, they sure liked it. I haven't seen any in my garden yet, I have many Penta flowers, but only a wee stalk of Tropical milkweed.

I took both pictures in my garden.
This one is called here "limonera grande " (Papilio thoas) I think your name for this is King swallowtail

We call this "borde de oro". (Battus polydama) .

I have asclepia curassavicas in my garden. And they are the host plants for monarch butterflies but I have seen that that plant is a great attraction for all butterflies.

Yes Christie, Asclepia curassavica is the scientific name for milkweed. I had to search the name in internet because it is an English name that you give to the plant in the United States. It is not used in Argentina where I live.
I always try to add the scientific names for plants, butterflies or birds when I write a post because I usually don't know the common name. *Blush*

Sooner or later I will learn the word Asclepia. Our city, and other cities here also, have a project named the "Monarch Trail". Where they are trying to encourage people to plant milkweed for the survival of the Monarch butterfly - and they usually just call it milkweed. And as a child, we also called it milkweed. So I had never heard the correct scientific name. But I am trying to get that word into my brain! nodding

Of course Christie! I also know the common names of the plants in Spanish. Rolling my eyes. But I am afraid that if I name the plants or the butterflies by their common name in Spanish you would not know what I am talking about.... nodding
For instance, would you know what butterfly I am talking about if I call it "espejitos"?? Whistling
Well, this is an "espejitos"for us:

It has been a very wet but mild winter in south Louisiana, we are in the mid 70's today and when I looked out the window I saw 2 giant swallowtails "trapped" in my temporary greenhouse. There was an orange tree full of blossoms inside the greenhouse which must have lured them in. I took the orange tree out and coaxed the butterflies out. One landed on the orange tree to catch its breath at they were using a lot of energy bouncing around the ceiling of the greenhouse. Once freed they took their time and sampled other flowers in the yard. We have had many rainy and overcast days which have put a damper on outside work projects but I hope we will be seeing sunny days soon. There was one Sulphur who stopped briefly but I am too slow to keep up for a picture.
