I know our far southern members see quite a bit more these days but this was a huge surprise for me today... Both for timing and the fact that the squirrels actually missed some last year!

Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

Lovely! I get so excited when I get the first bloom in the garden. Maybe sometime in March for me. Could be a snowdrop, crocus or Siberian iris, I never know what will bloom first.

Even though we were back down to 30 degrees for the high today, The were five crocus in flower! Daffs are up about 5 inches, and I'm seeing flower buds amongst the Hyacinth leaves. Why do we get so giddy over stuff that happens every year? 😁

Thanks everyone for the day-brightener. I really needed that.
Absolutely nothing going on here, we are sleeping deeply.

These little red shrimp plants are all volunteers, they blew into the yard with the hurricanes of 2004 and have been here ever since. Blooming now

Gorgeous! I have two tiny Daphne and they've just now bloomed. They're beautiful and so fragrant!!

First snake outdoors. It was 89F here today, they are awake. This is just a little sweet 3-3.5 ft rat snake looking for a snack. Hope he eats the mice in the garage that ate the electrical wiring in my car

This was the sight out my door yesterday pre-dawn. But today it warmed to 42 degrees, the snow melted a little and a southern wind blew. Today, even though it's aways off for us, I could smell spring in the air.

I have one (a BIG one) that lives in my greenhouse, which kinda counts as indoors nodding even though people on the houseplant forum disagree with me nodding I have been seeing him a lot lately, big Black Racer

Yeah but guess what? I was out in the greenhouse today, working around my stream, and who should I almost step on?? Probably this very same rat snake. If he had been a rattlesnake, I'd be in the hospital right now. I think he came over from the breezeway and went into the greenhouse. I told him, be careful, there's a big black racer in here bigger than you, who will challenge you for territory. He didn;t look up, just slithered off into the alocasias

New leaf came out on one of my Heliconia zebrina 'Inca' plants. They are quite a bit happier now that they are in the ground and out of pots

Hold on now....we are supposed to have a night of 34F midweek next week, so you will most likely be colder....not quite sprung yet!
