My 2 Red Lion amaryllises finished blooming at least 2 months ago. They were healthy ... leaves continued to grow, and the leaves were nice and green. I have recently noticed that on one plant the leaves are starting to turn yellow. The plants are under bright light, are watered when the top inch of soil is dry, and I have lightly fertilized them when I watered them. What am I doing wrong?

Amaryllis go dormant after blooming. Just store the bulbs in their pots dry until you see new growth. This is true for most bulbs.

Carol - Amaryllis bulbs are dormant PRIOR to their blooming. From now until next fall they should be producing lost of healthy leaves that will photosynthesize and rebuild the bulb.

Jane - An occasional lower yellow leaf is not a cause for concern. If you are getting more than that, then it is either not getting a lot of direct indoor sun or the soil may be staying too moist. Did you repot recently? Can you post a photo of the entire plant, including its pot?

You're right, Will. Mine are outdoors year round, and they do what weather indicates. Right now that is going dormant slowly.
