Sounds like a nice way to spend a wintery morning.

Dave, can you point me in the right direction for information on how the Auction is going to work.
will there be a time limit on it? And if someone bids on an item, will they get a chance to
increase their bid? tks

Sure thing Linda.

The auction is going to work as a blind auction. People have until the end of March to put their bids in and the highest bid wins. After that, the winning bidder will be notified and a invoice will be sent. Once payment is received, the seed will be sent out.

The auction has been something that has not been done in a long long time. I decided to add some fun to the seed exchange and bring it back. My choices for the auction items were based on what's the popular item, limited quantity, or in the case of Tracey's George Slate x The Pirate, it was chosen because George Slate is hard to find commercially these days, and it's a long lived lily to the best of my knowledge.

The Darm Crook seeds were a late addition to the list, or one of them would have been in the auction as well. Ideally, and in the future, I would like to pick at least one selection from each division as an auction item. Though oriental is a hard one to pick with really limited donations being made to that division unfortunately.

Does this info work? I'll follow up the email Stephanie sent about the seed exchange opening with this info on the seed exchange.

I've never done a blind auction. (Though I have spent a lot of time on the daylily auction.)

Good choices for the auction. How many bids can a person put in? I guess what I'm trying to say is, If after a couple of weeks
you decide to raise your bid, is that possible? What do you do if there is a tie?

Thanks for the information.

You can put as many bids in as you wish up until midnight March 31st. No limit or maximum bid. If there is a tie, then in the case of the ones that have multiple seed packs, that would go to the highest bidder. If the isn't more than one pack, forever has the highest bid in at the earliest time will win the seed pack. It's the fairest way I can think to do this.

When NALS did this before, it was all done by traditional mail, which I can imagine would add more difficulty in determining a winner. At least email is date and time stamped and sent right away.
