Evelyn, I've always loved his irises. Such lush pinks and lovely form. Ruffles! Since he's closing his business and will be devoting his time to hybridizing, I just placed a small order with him. The availability may decrease in the future.

Great group, Sheri! Hurray! Hurray! I may have lost a few more. I'll know after I get them all mapped and a few Noids are i.d.ed.

Sheri, I've always been a little envious of your friendship with Joe! Living in the same area and seeing his irises up close. You've been lucky.

I agree, I've always wanted to go to his end of year sale, but I would have to camp out the night before to be first in line. I've heard the sales he has sale out in an hour.

Oh, add 'Treasured' to my list too.. That makes it an even 90.. A drop in the bucket to Brad's collection, I'm sure.

I've never been to Joe's sale.. It's too early in the morning for me Thumbs down I've heard that everyone lines up, and it's a feeding frenzy when he opens the gate. From all reports, he does sell out within an hour. Blinking By the time he has his sale, I've always over-ordered and wonder where they will all go anyway *Blush* Hilarious!

I'll probably only be ordering from Joe this year. My bathroom remodel from hell has drained my bank account.. My accountant warned me last year that I'll be owing taxes this year w/ the changes in tax law. Oh well, there's always next year..

I heard his one hours sale sells out in 10-18 minutes. I've been wanting to go to it, but it's too long of a drive for something that's over that quickly.

Those are some great collections! Thumbs up

I used to be able to go to my excel spread sheet and sort by hybridizer and just copy and past all of that info on to a thread like this and be done. But like the dummy I am I didn't save an updated list on a thumb drive. The lightning storm took care of that, so now I would have to go through all my paper bed maps and list them. Too much work. Just have to take my word that I have a bunch of his, and looking at his catalog that came last week, I guess I'll probably be having a few more. Whistling

Some gorgeous irises in this thread. Lovey dubby

I only have two Ghio's. Not that I wouldn't like to have more, but I try to be a bit careful adding irises hybridized in a climate that is very unlike my own. Certainly some will work, but I think that the success rate will be lower.

'Superhero' that I bought...

... and 'Inside Job' that I got as a gift

These are both new to me. Unfortunately 'Superhero' started to rot severely from the cut end within 2 weeks after potting up. I don't think this has something to do with the cultivar, rather the rhizomes from this particular vendor seems more prone to rot for me. For this reason 'Super Hero' is in the green house and it seems to have fully recovered. I love the looks of 'Super Hero' and it seems a popular iris as everyone in the thread so far has it growing. I bet Tom has it too, as I recall he mentioned it was one that did well for him!!!

I just remembered that I actually saved a list of Tom's Ghio irises from 2017, so I would know which one that worked well for him, as they then would have a decent chance to work for me as well. Smiling

Helpful list, William!

I have three Ghio's, which is one more than I have of Keppel irises. My want list from Ghio seems a lot smaller than from Keppel. Not to compare either hybridizer - something I noticed is all....maybe have to fix that soon.. Whistling

Anyways, here are my Ghio's:
Epicenter

Managua

Oil Painting

Looks like I have two of his 1993 intros. Rolling my eyes.
TB 'Starting Fresh' blooming for me in May of 2022. It bloomed for a week and a half with nine buds.

Monty, Tom made a very good list. While I thank you for the acorn, I passed it along to Tom as it is his list, not mine.

Thanks Tom, for the list. I tip my hat to you.

Interesting to see how his irises do in different zones. For instance, My Beloved bloomed memorably in 2017, bloomed in 2018, and produced increases.I divided and potted an increase and planted another in the garden for back-up. I'm glad I did, because the original may have bloomed out.

I stayed up until 1AM working on my list because literally I have so many of his irises on my wish list and look at the online pictures of his Irises so much; I had to double check my garden list and make sure of whether I have them or am just dreaming I have them.

Here's my list:

Ponderosa
Bravery
Designer Gown
Double Platinum
Drifting Bubbles
Expose
Expect Wonders
Gentle Soul
Heavenly Host
