I've been growing tatume, which I LOVE, but it is the only type of squash I've attempted and I'd like to branch into other types. I'm looking for a vining type and it is annoying that often I don't see 'bush' or 'vine' on the squash seeds like I see on beans. I've read that this is because ALL summer squash types (zucchinis) are bush types, and only the winter ones are vines. Is this true? (I know the tatume was a vine and we ate them as summer squash, but those are special. ;) )

I was hoping to grow some pattypans, but they are all bush, aren't they?

Thanks!
Robyn

I year I grew Zucchino Rampicante Squash on a trellis. It did need a little help climbing. But it does vine and it will grow on a trellis. They are good eating too. Just don't let them get to big.

However, if I were going to grow a vining summer squash right now. It would be Lemon Squash from Baker Creek. The reviews are very positive.
One has to do more than just read. They have to investigate and think for themselves.

Here is a link to a video on YouTube. The Grower tied the vine up a single stake. It looks interesting.
