Last year, I put 4 plants in the front yard.
Same soil, same sun exposure, same watering, etc.
One of them is growing like crazy (albeit a bit scraggily). 2 are on their last legs and one is dead.
Any ideas why?
thx.

What kind of plants were they?
edited to add: I just Googled 'Sun Parasol' and came up with Mandevilla.

I wonder if that narrow planter has to much leaching from the pavers/foundation. They are acid loving plants, and I have one in a hanging pot that has thrived for at least 10 years with periodic repotting/root pruning. Possibly a drainage problem?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Yes, they are officially a Mandevilla. Sun Parasol must be a proprietary breed of the Mandevilla family
I'm a rank amateur on these things, so I accept that "leaching" and "drainage" may be problems, but why not for all of them... not just 3 our of four? They're only 10 feet apart.
Yes, Sun Parasol is the registered trademark of Mandevilla; we have quite a few listed here in our database with information and photos: https://garden.org/plants/sear...
I'm not sure why only one of the four planted in the same area would survive while the others are almost totally dead but the remaining plant does not appear healthy either and may be on it's last legs. My first thought too was that the unhealthy plants might be due to a possible leaching issue from being planted too close to the cement foundation and in both photos, the ground looks quite dry so I wonder if that also might be a problem.
