Miniature Orchids are defined as naturally occurring small Orchids not to exceed 6 inches/15 cm excluding inflorescence.

Pleurothallis alata certainly fits into this group and it is my smallest orchid.
I never let the little pot dry out.

The tiny blooms are very cute. If you blink, you missed them.

Scaphosepalum cimex likes a moist environment and sulks for me if it gets too dry.

The blooms are bug-like and sport little antennae

Most of the time I find them at the end of the spikes a bit more curled up.

Scaphosepalum ovulare is another miniature with shiny egg shaped flowers.

And then there is the neat Pleurothallis cypripedioides with its very fuzzy little bowl&cover.

The elongating spikes produce the dangling blooms for many months. My plant slows a little bit down during the hot Summer outside and blooms best in the middle of Winter.

Pleurothallis tripterantha is flowering well this Winter.
