Have had some bloom stalks popping up, and the race was on to see which would be first bloom. Lots of TB's in the race, but this dark horse snuck up a stalk while attention was focused on the forerunner. So the winner of first for 2019 is:

Hugh Stout's SDB Fruit On The Bottom, a new intro last year. Of course it decided to rain on it's opening but there are more stalks on the way! Hurray!

Every time I see that picture of Dragon's Lair I wanna cry, Lost it, and would so much like to get it back. Just doesn't seem to be out there any more.

Okay Leslie, here ya go. First bloom for Concord NC - Gizmo the Gremlin!

The first bloom was Sunday, but it was pretty wonky. This is the bloom from Thursday. I acquired it last summer and so desperately need more. Hope it's happy and multiplies. Just love it. Lovey dubby

Casey, I love little Gizmo. It is always among the first to bloom here but it did not put up one stalk this year. I think my oaks are covering more area with shade and I will probably have to move some irises this year. Your photo is lovely. Smiling

I really like that little sdb, they are so cute. I have not been out but may have a couple blooming today. I saw some tip color yesterday, may have to run out in my jammies and see Hilarious! SDB iris either seem to love me or hate me. A few bloom dependably every year, others just when they feel like it, and that may be every 3rd year.

They are sure cute! I agree Though for me, it is in general that some of my varieties (noids) bloom inconsistently. Noids are all TBs though.

Casey - Gizmo is quite the survivor so chances are really good that it will give you increases! Nice picture of it too!
