I need suggestions for Hummer/Bee friendly vines on my arbor. This is on the north side of the house, so sun is just starting to get around there in the afternoon. Soon , it will be full sun most of the day. Most perennial vines don't make it through winter because the soil stays cold/ wet in the shade. It has good drainage, and shallower rooted plants seem to do fine.

@TommyDaCommie,

It really doesn't matter how many photos you've taken or awards you have won. If you can't answer serious questions seriously, then be quiet and let the adults talk.

Hi Carol, Have you thought about Clematis?

Yep. I have tried them in that spot before. Did well for one season. They are not popular around here, judging by the lack of availability. Gelsemium has done well for a few years, but is dead now after a weak showing this winter.

Then I think I would try some annual vines that grow fast and have pretty flowers.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'll have to do a nursery run in Orange. On Tustin Ave, there are 5 nurseries in a 5 mi. stretch, so I can hit them all if I need to.

Five nurseries? Any car lots? You'll need to get a bigger car to get home.
