Hi there,

I had an empty bed in my perennial garden and it seems like some sort of ground cover/ivy took over the bed and is spreading quickly. Wonder what the best way to get rid of it is? I dug out half the bed already but was wondering if I could burn it? Or would that release seeds and leave me worse off? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just seeing this....it's not ivy, but it is a garden thug ground cover. I cannot remember the name of it right now - will look it up & get back to you with that.
This, along with bindweed, covered the entire backyard of where I live. It took some doing to eradicate, but it's been gone now for 3 years. You need to dig it out: water the area well, then go back in later & loosen the roots. This one is super-agressive: any roots left in the ground will resprout. You may have to repeat the process in the autumn. I hope this helps even though you posted 2 months ago!
