Some seedlings are reblooming on much taller scapes than the first bloom so I have started taking a hard look at them to see if there are a few I want to move to the hybridizing area to work with next year and watch them another year. There are also the ones I moved last year, I have to decide how many I will line out and keep for a third year.
This was one I selected a month ago, it rebloomed and it sets seed. LILLIAN'S JINGER BRED X BEST EDGE Over 6" and seldom hangs. Have not seen much branching but that could improve next year.
Thumb of 2012-06-05/spunky1/b39086
I selected this seedling when it first bloomed at seven months because it already had a huge scape with four way branching and a 6" bloom with the widest petals I have done.

This is a 18 month old still in the seedling field loaded with seed pods. I set a seed everytime I put pollen on it, it also has tall well branched scape and the flower isn't bad.

This is now 10 months old with a decent tall scape. This flower is not as exotic as a lot of the others but the substance is like shoe leather.

And so it goes until September.

WOW! Fred, these are gorgeous! I'd keep them all but, for me to have as favorites it would be 4 and 2.

Have you got seeds ready to harvest?? I'm just curious because my seeds are a good 3 weeks ahead of schedule so far. I might get some ready to pick late this month.

Mona, I've already harvested seeds here. I will start planting them in seed trays this weekend.

Yes, Mona I will be selling seed. James doesn't sell seed, but if he doesn't plant all of his (oh how I hope he doesn't because he has a ton) I will get the extra to sell.

Betty, usually it ts anywhere from 40-60 days after pollinating to collect the seeds. I don't wait for them to turn brown and open at the top to collect. I will squeeze the top of the pods that I think are ready and if they crack open a little they usually are ready. Sometimes the pods start to open at the bottom instead of the top so I make sure I check them daily. I have also found that sometimes a pod may not seem ready one day and in the next day or two it will be.
I know you will be going out of town for a bit and if you are worried you may have some ripen and open up while you are gone try tying some old pantyhose (who wears them and has old ones anymore Rolling my eyes. ) around the pods so the seeds won't fall to the ground. To make it easier for you just tie it around all the pods if there are more than one so you aren't trying to tie it around each individual pod and accidently break it off.

Thank you, Michele! I didn't start pollinating until after May 10th, so I I won't have to try to scrounge up pantyhose! I am finally noticing a few pods, for which I am VERY thankful! And yesterday and today the temp has dropped -- 70's yesterday and 80 today. Yea!!! But of course we leave tomorrow for two weeks, and it's killing me to see all those buds I know I will miss...

I have enjoyed so much seeing everyone's seedling pictures here. I just hope that by next year maybe I'll have a picture or two that I'm proud enough of to share...

I still don't have many blooming yet so I have gone back to fertilizing twice a week and have lots of scapes popping up.

Some of these I've already posted but thought I'd repost so they will all be together. These are all 9 months.

I have another out of that cross that has bloomed and it will get another look. I messed up the bloom and didn't get a photo

This next one is definitely a gonner. It was a cross I did because that's what was blooming on a day I didn't have time to go get pollen and I just used what was open

Fred, I see some great beauties there, especially #'s 1 and 6!

And Michele, I really like some of those. I personally would not eliminate the WONDER OF IT ALL seedling until I found out whether it also hangs up like WOIA does. Just about every bloom I've had on WOIA has hung up and I've had to separate the petals myself -- Bummer! Your seedling also looks like it has a bit of a fringy border, which I also love -- just my personal preference.
