Yes, it is an agave with some amount of Manfreda in it. The purplish spots are a characteristic of several plants in the former Manfreda genus, which has been subsumed into Agave. There are a number of named hybrids and cultivars. The one pictured is not familiar to me, but do an internet search for Mangave and you will probably find it.
