Larry passed away last night. He certainly will be missed. I now have this huge hole in my heart and my life.

I doubt I'll be at the swap.

Oh...

i'm sorry beyond words, sobbing as I type. I've never known a more sweet, charming man. I'm glad your passion for gardening brought him to us. Pretty stinkin' mad at God for allowing him to be taken away.

Thank you all for your kind words of support. I stopped by the hospital today to let his nurses know. They were all in tears.

For those of you that don't know, which I guess is everyone...

Tuesday morning, we were going to iHop for breakfast. While crossing the parking lot, he got dizzy. I grabbed his arm, and then his legs started to go. I slowed his descent as best as I could so that he didn't hit his head on the pavement. They took him to Shady Grove ER, where his was diagnosed with severe dehydration. (I was just lecturing him earlier about not drinking enough fluids.) His heart rhythm was all over the place, BP low and O2 sat low. Once he was stable and things settled down, they moved him to an observation room for the night. He was already nagging about going home.

I got there around 10:45 Wednesday morning. One of the aides had been in earlier to check his vitals and noticed that he was wheezing. Off for another chest X-Ray. It came back showing early signs of pneumonia. It was being masked by the dehydration. They hit him up with some powerful antibiotics. The whole time, he wanted to go home.

They released him around 6:30. We got home in time for him to watch David Muir. I made sure he was settled in his chair with explicit instructions that he was only to get up to go to the bathroom. I ran out to get his prescriptions filled and grabbed him an ice cream sundae from Mickey D's. He didn't feel like eating anything, but I figured he would eat that. Wrong. He inhaled it!

After a while, he said it had been a long day and "it was time to go". I followed behind as he climbed up the steps. He looked pretty good and sounded much better. He went in to his room and closed the door. I found him this morning around 7:30 half in and out of bed.

It's going to be a rough couple of weeks.

Dear Rick, I am at work and crying reading about Larry, and your loss. You have been taking care of Larry, cooking the delicious food for him and I told him at the Swap early this year how lucky he was to have you----and he just smiled, agreeing with me. So Rick, be happy that you have made him happy----and now he is HOME, and I am glad he went quickly, at home. He did not suffer. There is a big hole, an emptiness, especially for you and for all of us who knew him, a gentle quiet man, but I know that he is happy where he is, I talked to a woman who had 'died' and came back because her duties on earth was not finished yet, she said that she did not want to come back, but she had to. She loved flowers too, she said that the air was clean and fragrant, and flowers everywhere. -- Now this person is gone back HOME too-- So please think of that--- I hope it will help you cope with your loss. Actually, Larry is not gone, it is just that we cannot see him, nor touch him any longer----
Hugs--

Thanks Karen, he was. No matter how bad my day at work was, he would always manage to put a smile on my face just by being there when I got home. Sad

He will certainly be missed. Life can be so short that we need to all try to live well every minute. I'm sure you made him very happy every minute of your years together.
